In a historic moment for Albanian football, the players qualified for Euro 2024 after finishing in first place in Group E. This achievement came following a closely contested 1-1 (1-0) draw away to Moldova in Chisinau on Friday. After the match, Ylber Ramadani, who plays for Lecce in the Italian first league, made headlines for his choice of attire. He wore a hat featuring the image of the founder of the KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army), who is considered a terrorist in Serbia.

Ramadani, born in Germany and raised in Kosovo, started his football career there before moving to Italy. His decision to wear this hat sparked controversy among some Serbian media outlets, who deemed it a ‘scandalous’ celebration. As a result, there was little enthusiasm among Serbian fans regarding his choice of clothing following the match. Despite this controversy, Ramadani’s performance on the field was instrumental in Albania’s qualification for Euro 2024.
