Dick Mitchell: Latest News, Sports Updates and Job Opportunities

Dick Mitchell, a beloved figure in Altoona, has passed away at his home at the age of 79. Born and raised in the city, he was the son of Lester and Kathryn (Estep) Mitchell. In 1965, he married Terry Cowher and together they shared 58 years of love and happiness.

Dick was a dedicated worker, retiring after 31 years of service from Norfolk Southern Corp. as a machinist and foreman. He also owned and operated Dick’s Train Store in Juniata for many years and worked as a DJ Spinner for 15 years. Dick was an active member of the Alto Model Train Association Inc., where he spent countless hours with his friends and fellow model train enthusiasts.

In addition to his wife Terry, Dick is survived by his two sons, Grant and Brian, both of Altoona. He was deeply devoted to his family and cherished the time they spent together.

Friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., located at 719 N Fourth Ave., Altoona. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Park. For more information, please visit maukandyates
