Kate Simonet, a former Division II student-athlete and author, is coming to Minot State University on Monday, November 27 to present “Out of the Darkness.” The presentation will take place at 3 and 7 pm in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall on the Minot State University campus.

Originally from Minnesota, Simonet was a former DII student-athlete at Winona State. She is now a mental health and suicide prevention advocate who travels to schools and organizations, speaking to students about the importance of asking for help and breaking the stigma around mental health struggles.

Simonet’s personal journey with bipolar disorder has taught her that there is hope in not only managing a mental illness but also in living a successful and happy life regardless of their mental health status. She aims to spread this message through her presentation at MSU.

The event is free and open to the public, presented by MSU Student Health and Counseling. Today’s breaking news and more in your inbox.
