In a candid interview with Paris Match, French First Lady Brigitte Macron opened up about her 10-year wait to marry her husband, French President Emmanuel Macron. The couple first started dating when Emmanuel was just 15 and Brigitte was his drama teacher.
Brigitte, who is now 70 years old, spoke about the challenges she faced in her relationship with her 45-year-old husband. She expressed concern for their children, who were around the same age as him at the time of their relationship. Brigitte emphasized that she made sure to put her children on the right path before marrying Emmanuel.
Their relationship began in Amiens, France when she was 40 years old and he was a student in her drama class. Despite initial resistance from his parents and her concerns about age differences, they continued their relationship. Eventually, she divorced her ex-husband in 2006 and later remarried Emmanuel in 2007.
Brigitte and Emmanuel have one son and two daughters together. Following their marriage, she became the First Lady of France and he went on to become the President of France in 2017.
