On Monday, a dramatic scene unfolded at a hospital in the Hamburg district of Heimfeld. A woman with a child was in the doctor’s office for a pediatric examination when an 18-year-old Bulgarian woman approached her and took the baby, running away from the clinic. According to Bild, the woman who played the doctor told the mother that she had dropped something at the information desk and would take care of the baby.

However, just a few moments later, the mother discovered that there was no baby. It is not yet known whether the child’s mother and the 18-year-old know each other. Two groups of large families gathered in front of the hospital, allegedly around 40 people, as tensions rose and accusations of kidnapping began flying. The whole situation had to be calmed down by the police as chaos ensued.

Just two hours later, the 18-year-old returned with the baby and handed it over to hospital staff. She was taken into custody and is being investigated on suspicion of kidnapping. Bild reports that she allegedly had a recent miscarriage. The incident has left many people shaken and concerned about security measures at hospitals in Hamburg district Heimfeld.
