Hawaii Schools Receive Science Education Boost with Grant Awards

Lahainaluna High School received a Bayer Fund – Hawaii Science Education Grant check for the purchase of science lab equipment. The grant is part of a program that provides Hawaii public schools with tools, supplies and equipment to enhance science education and encourage students to consider a future career in the sciences.

Ten grants totaling more than $9,300 have been awarded to Hawaii public schools from the Bayer Fund – Hawaii Science Education Grant. Recipients include Ewa Makai Middle School, H.P. Baldwin High School, Iao School, Ilima Intermediate School, Ilima Intermediate School, Kaimuki Middle School, Kihei Charter School, Lahaina Intermediate School, Lahainaluna High School, and McKinley High School.

The funds went to support a variety of science, technology, engineering and math-related activities such as a macro propagation project, drone building program, hydroponics project and community garden as well as equipment and supplies for earth science, marine biology, life science and forensic science classes. This grant program is offered twice a year and is available on the islands of Oahu
