On Sunday, the initial reports about 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga’s knee injury were not positive. Unfortunately, the condition did not improve on Monday either. During a Monday conference call, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Hufanga had torn his ACL during the team’s victory over the Buccaneers. Fortunately, Hufanga avoided any other damage to the knee, and it is hoped that he will be ready for the start of the 2024 season. Last season, Hufanga was an All-Pro player and had been playing well again this season. He started all 10 games played by the 49ers so far and had an impressive total of 52 tackles and three interceptions in those contests. In his absence, Ji’Ayir Brown stepped in and made an interception in the end zone to thwart a scoring opportunity for the Bucs.
