In a significant project, Freeport-McMoRan has chosen to partner with Metso to improve the efficiency and quality of copper production in their El Paso electrorefinery in Texas, US. The order value exceeding €10 million includes Outotec Anode Preparation and Cathode Stripping Machines, based on proven designs and modern robotic technology to optimize material handling efficiency.

Metso’s scope of delivery will combine their long-term experience of similar equipment with modern robot technology to fulfill the material handling requirements of the existing tankhouse. The solution will enable Freeport-McMoRan to increase production rates while maintaining high safety standards and long-term reliability.
