Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has announced that the company will hire OpenAI’s Sam Altman and other members of his team, a few days after firing the co-founder. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, he wrote, “Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, along with colleagues, will join Microsoft to lead a new advanced artificial intelligence research team.”
In addition to hiring Altman and Brockman, Microsoft is also investing heavily in AI research and development. The company has already spent billions of dollars on AI projects over the past few years and is committed to continuing this investment.
Altman’s team at OpenAI includes several top experts in the field of AI, including Yoshua Bengio, Geoffrey Hinton, and Stuart Russell. These experts will bring their expertise to Microsoft’s AI research efforts and help the company develop new technologies that can be used in a wide range of industries.
Microsoft has been working on its own AI projects for several years now, but it hasn’t had as much success as it would have liked. With the addition of Altman and his team, however, Microsoft may finally be able to make some real progress in this area.
