Kindergarten students at Fritsch Elementary School in Carson City had an exciting morning as they got to explore the anatomy of a turkey. Dressed in sterile gowns, the students eagerly handled the beloved bird, gaining hands-on experience with its various parts. Along with studying the turkey’s anatomy, the students also calculated diagrams and made turkey traps in anticipation of Thanksgiving next week.

As part of their Thanksgiving preparations, the students also created paper dials with numbered feathers to practice their math skills. They also participated in a sensory paper-tearing art project to strengthen their fine motor skills, which are important for improving handwriting.

The Carson City School District has reminded everyone that there will be no school next week from Monday, Nov. 20 to Friday, Nov. 24 in observance of Thanksgiving Break.
