In the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship, the No. 15 Ohio State women’s basketball team emerged victorious over East Carolina with a final score of 79-55. Jacy Sheldon led the Buckeyes with an impressive 20 points, while Taylor Thierry contributed 14 points and eight rebounds.
Ohio State began the game strong, scoring the first 10 points and maintaining a commanding 21-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, East Carolina’s Synia Johnson mounted a comeback in the second quarter, scoring eight of her 14 points to bring ECU within three points of Ohio State at halftime.
The second half saw Ohio State take control once again, as they scored 11 of the first 13 points to take a double-digit lead and maintained it for the rest of the game. Rebeka Mikulasikova contributed 12 points, while Cotie McMahon and Rikki Harris each had 11 for Ohio State. On the other hand, ECU’s Johnson and Amiya Joyner scored 14 and 12 points respectively.
The game was marked by several technical fouls, including an ejection for ECU’s Jade Tillman after a hard foul in the third quarter. Despite these incidents, Ohio State’s strong performance secured a convincing victory in the tournament.
