In Škabrnja, the Minister of Administration and Justice Ivan Malenica emphasized the importance of honoring the victims of tragic events with dignity. Every year, large numbers gather to pay tribute to all those who suffered at the hands of the Great Serbian regime. However, Malenica expressed his dissatisfaction with the inadequate punishments for the crimes committed in this area, specifically mentioning Šimatović and Stanišić, who were not sentenced for their actions in Škabrnja and Nadin.

The minister chose not to comment on the controversies and tensions that marked the past month leading up to the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Vukovar and Škabrnja. Instead, he called for all stakeholders on the political scene to refrain from politicizing these days and instead come together to remember those tragic moments. Malenica urged everyone to put aside their differences and focus on paying tribute to those who lost their lives during this dark period in history.
