The Funhouse Science Fair Returns

Come join us at the Funhouse Commons for our 20th Science Fair, taking place on Saturday, April 27th from 12-4 p.m. This exciting event started in 2001 with the goal of celebrating and inspiring the amazing discoveries made by young scientific minds. After a four-year break, we are thrilled to announce the return of this beloved tradition, rejuvenated and ready to bring excitement back to our community.

All Orcas K-12 students are welcome to register their projects, and we extend a friendly invitation to community members interested in presenting their work in conservation and environmental science. If you are interested in being a vendor or volunteering at the science fair, please contact Ryan@thefunhouse.org. Our Science Fair, with an Earth Day theme, will offer free food and drinks, live music, community displays, and, of course, the fantastic projects from our young participants.

Every participant will receive an award, with the top three prizes in elementary, middle, and high school categories chosen by our esteemed wandering wizards. The prestigious Richie Moore “Rocket Ship of Wonder” will be awarded to the top three best-in-show science projects. The breakdown of prizes is as follows: High School: 1st place $500, 2nd place $350, 3rd place $250. Middle School: 1st place $250, 2nd place $150, 3rd place $100. Elementary: 1st place $100, 2nd place $75, 3rd place $50.

We are looking for support from our community to help raise $5,000 to cover the costs of food, drinks, awards, prizes, and supplies needed for this special event. We are also seeking volunteers to help with setup, activities, and cleanup. Your tax-deductible donation and/or volunteer time are greatly appreciated and are crucial in making this event a success. Remember, it takes a village – and a Funhouse – to create magic!
