Emma Woodfell, a resident of Charleston’s West Side, expressed her concerns about the natural gas outages in her area. She has been without gas for weeks and is worried about replacing her appliances. Unfortunately, a Mountaineer Gas Company representative was unable to provide a timeline for when the service will be restored.
In response to these concerns, Martec Washington from Health Right delivered supplies to Woodfell’s porch to assist those affected by the outages. Washington emphasized the importance of checking in on the community and ensuring their safety, given the strong smell of gas in the area.
Woodfell expressed her gratitude for the help she is receiving and described how Charleston Fire Department installed smoke detectors in her home to provide an added sense of security if she needs to use a heater. For those in need of supplies due to the outages, they can contact West Virginia Health Right, other agencies such as United Way, or the 211 hotline.
