White Rock Farmers’ Market boosts economy by $5 million

A recent study by the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets revealed that the White Rock Farmers’ Market had a significant impact on the local economy, generating over $5 million in economic activity. This includes $3.55 million in direct sales and attracting a total of 81,600 shoppers throughout the season. The study also highlighted the remarkable growth of farmers’ markets in British Columbia, despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to the economic impact, the study found that the average shopper at the White Rock Farmers’ Market spent $43.37 per visit, with 51 percent of visitors frequenting the market either weekly or bi-monthly. These numbers demonstrate the market’s popularity and importance within the community.

The White Rock Farmers’ Market will be opening for the 2024 season on April 21 at Miramar Plaza. Operating on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until October 13, the market will feature a variety of local vendors offering fresh produce, artisan goods, and more.
