The body of a man was discovered Tuesday morning in a Jacksonville retention pond, and authorities do not believe foul play was involved. The incident occurred on Lee Road just north of Atlantic Boulevard, where officers responded to reports of a drowning around 8 a.m.
According to investigators, a person at a nearby business spotted the man’s body in the water and promptly notified 911. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office dive team and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department worked together to retrieve the man’s body from the pond, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
