Hyundai Motor Group (the Group) has once again demonstrated its success at the World Car Awards, as the Kia EV9 was awarded the 2024 World Car of the Year at the New York International Auto Show. In addition to this prestigious title, the EV9 also received the 2024 World Electric Vehicle award. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N was named the 2024 World Performance Car, highlighting the Group’s leadership in electric vehicles and the advanced technology of its Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
These victories in 2024 showcase Hyundai Motor Group’s continued excellence at the World Car Awards over the years. The IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 previously claimed triple titles in 2022 and 2023, respectively, in the categories of World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle, and World Car Design of the Year. In 2023, the Kia EV6 GT was also recognized as the World Performance Car, while in 2020, the Kia Telluride was awarded the overall World Car of the Year title and the Kia Soul EV won in the World Urban Car category.
The Kia EV9 stood out at this year’s World Car Awards for its innovative design, spacious seven-seat interior, and competitive price point. Built on the E-GMP architecture, the EV9 is the first Kia model to feature fourth-generation battery technology, enhancing its performance capabilities. These accolades further solidify Hyundai Motor Group’s position as a leader in the electric vehicle market and showcase the technological advancements of its EV-dedicated platform.
