The UVM men’s basketball team is preparing for the 2023-24 season with the expectation of returning most of their rotation. However, they made a significant addition to their roster by bringing in former Memphis guard Jayhlon Young to strengthen their guard position.
Young’s college basketball journey has been a winding one. He began at Grambling, redshirting his true freshman year in 2019-20. After two seasons at a junior college, he then transferred to UCF where he played over 19 minutes per game, averaging 4.5 points and shooting nearly 36% from three-point range. Young made another move to Memphis last season but saw a decrease in playing time and performance compared to his time at UCF.
With the graduation of standout guard Aaron Deloney, Vermont is looking to Young to help replace some of the production lost. They are hopeful that Young’s experience and skills will make a positive impact on the team and contribute to their success in the upcoming season.
